With a working history that spans the globe, Ben is the commercial and human face of ‘geekdom’. His passion is finding the edge for his clients and simplifying the increasingly complex world of digital communications to deliver business success.
Ben is a man with a story and he loves hearing others’ stories. His desire for connection, and some rich life experience, has given him a unique perspective of the world. This experience guides his interaction with clients and allows him to provide solutions in a space where others are still searching for the right questions.
After an early career producing live television and early morning radio shows, in which he saw the best of people and the worst of celebrities, Ben moved into the advertising world and account management. Gaining experience with clients like Tropicana, CNN, Alfa Romeo, Beanz (the first internet currency experiment) and Buena Vista Home Entertainment, the dotcom boom beckoned and Ben joined oncampusuk as a founding partner, and Head of Marketing.
During that time, he introduced the first online embedded advertising solution targeting university students in the UK and helped create the first online advertising network using student union websites in the UK. A dotcom success story with a reach to over 60% of UK student bodies and universities and clients including the National Health Service, Ernst & Young, Burger King, and NatWest Bank, Ben sold the business in 2006 to a major UK internet player.
His return to Australia saw him snatched up as Senior Producer for the digital department at belong, one of Australia’s premier brand communication agencies. His unique combination of a passion for digital and real world experience allowed him to foster relationships between IT, Client Management, and Creative to produce outstanding business solutions for his clients.
Having built a reputation in Australia to match the one he left behind in the UK, South Africa, and Asia - coupled with a burning ambition drive business success for himself - Ben joined theirspace digital as an equity partner in October 2008.
Ben’s unique gift is clarity and simplicity in a confused and ever changing digital space. Ahead of the trends, he somehow manages to combine all the traits of the tech savvy, game playing, weirdo geek, with the sophistication of a business strategist finding solutions that add value and drive efficiencies and bottom line profit for his clients.
He can also offer some interesting insights on why clever people often do dumb things... |
